Verses:
[answering the question: does God predestian us?]
Ephesians 1:11
"In His also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,"
Romans 9:15;18
"For He says to Moses, 'I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.'"
"Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills and whom He wills, He hardens."
[answering the question: does God will us to sin?]
James 1:13
"Let no one say when he is tempted, 'I am tempted by God'; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone."
I John 1:5
"This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all."
*it can be concluded that God does not want/will us to sin.
[answering the question: does God choose us?]
Romans 9:10-19
"And not only this, but when Rebecca also had conceived by one man, even by the father Isaac (for the children net yet being born, nor having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works but of Him who calls), it was said to her, 'The older shall serve the younger.' AS it is written, 'Jacob have I loved, but Esau I have hated.' What shall we say then. It there unrighteousness if God? Certainly not! For He says to Moses, 'I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and compassion one whomever I will have compassion.' So then it is not of him who wills, but of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy. For the Scripture says to the Pharaoh, 'For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth.' Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills He hardens."Ephesians 1:4"Just has He chose us in Hom before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,"
*yes God choses us
[answer to the question: why are we still responsible?]
Romans 9:19-21
"You will say to me then. 'Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?' But indeed oh man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed say to him who formed it, 'Why have you made me like this?' Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?
*yes we are, this passage goes on and on about this.

hey Becca, could you answer the question, "does God send people to hell?" and "does God love everyone he has created?" thanks!!!
Peace
Ethan
Ethen, If God does not save us, where do we go? It isn't that God sends people to hell, its that he lets them go and yes God loves everyone, but he loves us Christians in a special way.
Wow, that's really good, Becca! :)
so people chose to go to hell?
peace
Ethan
You will automatically go to hell if you are not saved by Jesus Christ.
God must be glorified in everything. History will all end to His glory so those in hell will burn to the pleasure of God. If an unsaved person was allowed to not go to hell then history would not end with God totally glorified because sin must be punished. Does God send people to hell? he has to or he would not be glorified in all things.
~warning of major sarcasim~ " there goes another one! to burn in the pits of hell!! oh i just love that face when they are pushed in to eternal damnation!!!! what a thrill!" doesnt sound like a loving God to me. it is his PLEASURE that people go to hell??? and he SENDS them??? show me where in the bible says this (in context please), and maybe ill agree with you.
Peace
Ethan
Ethan, I don't know if you'll find this relevant, but I do. The reference is Luke 10:21; at this point, the 72 are joyfully reporting to Jesus the results of their journeys.
"At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of Heaven and Earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure."
Also, check out Mark 4:1-20. Why, if not for his glory, would God keep the secret of the kingdom of God from people?
Ethan,
I think you're way underestimating God. Yes, He is a loving God, but He is also a JUST God. We ALL deserve to go to Hell! But before the beginning of the world, He chose some to go to be with Him in Heaven. Which also means, in a way, that He chose some to go to Hell. God created us and this world and EVERYTHING! (Including Hell!!) Therefore He has the power to do whatever He pleases. Which is all His Holy will. He does not sin, He does not cause us to sin; and yet, He knows when we are going to sin.If God does not send people to Hell, and they don't chose to go there, why do people go??
In Christ,
Charity
the thing is, people do chose to go to hell. when they reject Jesus's free gift of salvation, they are chosing to be on the side of the devil, and go to hell.
Peace
Ethan
"when I say to the wicked 'O wicked man, you will surely die,' and you do not speak out to dissuade him from his ways, that wicked man will die for his sins, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. but if you do warn the wicked man to turn from his ways and he does not do so, he will die for his sin, but you will have saved yourself." ezikiel 33:8,9 We as believers are in a way partly responsible for those going to hell everyday. So you can't just blame God for being so cruel you are partly responsible if you don't warn ervyone to turn from their ways.-Steve
Correct, Ethan. The choice of a person to go to hell is a reason why that person goes to hell. However, that choice is the only one people can make of their own nature. Without the type of grace which God does not give to all, people cannot choose Christ. Such would be an action pleasing to God — a thing which unregenerate man cannot do.
Prelude to a though:
Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try.
And no hell below us,
Above us only sky.
Imagine all the people living for today.
Imagine there's no countries.
It isn't hard to do.
Nothing to kill or die for.
No religion too.
Imagine all the people living life in peace.
You may say i'm a dreamer,
But I'm not the only one.
I hope someday you will join us,
And the world will live as one.

All of you, quit trying to control God. How are you doing this world any good if you are just sitting at your computers and arguing about what God did? Do you think better of the person who believes in free will then you do of your self? i don't see it. I see you using you holy book to prove each other wrong. Do you not know that there is enough dinomite in that book to blow the world to pieces if you would only obey it? but no, we treat it like interesting literature to be taken to pieces. You are a stumbling block. More then just christians read this blog (like me), ask yourself what kind of wittness you are giving them. For my part, I don't think God is into forced love.
hey whoever you are, you are totally right. Christians do cause trouble in and out of the church. and i want to say I'm sorry for the trouble that Christianity has caused. We should love more, and debate less, please forgive me for not practicing what i preach. i would hope that our bad example doesnt affect you negatively. you are right God's love is unconditonal.
Peace
Ethan
God isnt into forced love you are right. i dont know if id agree if the world would blow up if we were to follow the teachings of Christ... "love God with all our heard soul mind and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself..." sounds like it just might help the world if we followed it.
Peace
Ethan
The Bible is so important to us Christians that we take it and analyze every word. When we debate/argue/discuss it, we are trying to find out what it says and what God is telling us. When it does seem that we are arguing, we don't mean to, it's just that we believe in something so strongly that we push what we believe so hard and believe it with all of heart. When you believe something that strongly, you'll back it up to the end. Most of us know each other, and we love each other as brothers and sisters in Christ, and that doesn't mean we're always going to just sit next to each other and agree. We're going to talk, argue, and discuss, God wants us to discuss what he says in his word, we glorify him when we do it, when I discuss with Ethan, we don't shout and say mean things(usually jk lol) sometimes it gets heated and we both get mad, but in the end, we know each other a little better, and we get a little closer in Christ. Paul debated with the philosephers in Greece, and we're following his example. I'm not saying that God wants us to get mad at each other or hurt each other, he wants us to discuss him and read and study his word. Christianity does not trouble in the world.
When you say Christianity causes trouble when you argue, you're not just saying we humans are causing trouble, you're saying that God causes trouble and messes up the world. God doesn't. God has a specific plan for everyone on this earth and his will, will always come on top in the end. Christians do cause trouble, but not God, don't blame God for what man does wrong. Man is responsible for his actions, but yet, God commands them. All work out in a way that man cannot figure out. But sometimes I think we get close. Maybe. lol
I think the world would explode with love if everyone would follow that verse Ethan. lol
hey, david, you really didnt answer all of what he said... please do!!! and paul was arguing with greeks, not other christians. we can't say we are following his example by arguing with eachother.
Peace
Ethan
