Some quotes I got via email

Read Each One Carefully and Think About It a Second or Two

1. I love you not because of who you are, but because of who I am when I am with you..
2. No man or woman is worth your tears, and the one who is won't make you cry.
3. Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.
4.. A true friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart.
5. The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside them knowing you can't have them.
6. Never frown, even when you are sad, because you never know who is falling in love with your smile.
7. To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.
8. Don't waste your time on a man who isn't willing to waste his time on you.
9. Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one, so that when we finally meet the person, we will know how to be grateful.
10. Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened.
11. There's always going to be people that hurt you so what you have to do is keep on trusting and just be more careful about who you trust next time around.
12. Make yourself a better person and know who you are before you try and know someone else and expect them to know you.
13. Don't try so hard, the best things come when you least expect them to. REMEMBER: WHATEVER HAPPENS, HAPPENS FOR A REASON.

A Beautiful Thought

Once upon a time there was a wondrous creator born in this world. Created ultimately by God, the Master of all heaven and earth. He chose to create her through a man and a woman bound in love. She was naturally an enemy of this God. The nature with which she was born was ful and selfish. Her parents were patient and loving with her even in times of discipline. Which was done for her own good. Slowly the love of the God of the heavens began to open her eyes to the misery of her own being. She in turn being touched by the Holy Spirit confessed her wickedness and begged for forgiveness. He heard her. Because of the work He performed on the cross thousands of years ago she was forgiven. His had paid the price for the sins which she had committed constantly.

Today she still lives. Bound to Him. He will never let go of this precious little creator, no matter how heard she pulls away from Him. It is true; she is still a sinner. Her love for God is no where near the unconditional love He has for her. He died for her. While she, yet unborn, was an enemy of Him. Now her struggle is to glorify Him with the life He gave her. She is not alone in this. Left up to her own strange this would be an impossible task. He is there for her. His strange is sufficient for her. All she can do is praise Him for what He alone has done.
This creator… is me.

Biblical Poetry:

Remeber now your Creat0r in the days of your youth,
Before the difficult days come,
And the years draw near when you say,
"I have no pleasure in them":
While the sun and the light,
The moon and the stars,
Are not darkened,
And the clouds do not return after the rain;
In the day when the keepers of the house tremble,
And the strong men bow down;
When the griders cease because they are few,
And those that look through the windows grow dim;
When the doors are shut in the streets,
And the sound of grinding is low;
When the one rises up at the sound of bird,
And all the daughters of the music are brought low.
Also they are afraid of the height,
And of terrors in the way,
When the almond tree blossoms,
The grasshopper is a burden,
And desire fails,
For man goes to his eternal home,
And the mourners go about the streets.

Remeber your Creator before the silver cord is loosed,
Or the gold bowl is broken,
Or the pitcher shattered at the fountain,
Or the wheel brokwn at the well.
Then the dust will return to the earth as it was,
And the spirit will return to the God we gave it.

update on my mom

She got home yesterday at noon. A nurse just came and told her that she has to be on bed rest for the next two weeks. Which happen to be our first to weeks of school. Thank you for praying for my mom. Continue to pray for her, and for us as we try to start school and classes without her.

The baby is fine. Cutest person you will ever see. As soon as I figure out how to post pictures I will show you all what she looks like.

I have a ton of school to do so I need to go. See ya.

hey guys can you pray for my mom...

My mom is having surgery right now. Yesterday she went to the ER because she felt a lot of pain and now she is getting surgery done on her gull bladder. She has an infection or something. My dad is with her, but just pray that God would give the doctors wisdom. That my mom would heal quickly and that we would all be ok at home. Keziah can't be breast fed because of the medication my mom is on; so pray that she too would have a peaceful spirit.

My Jerusha and I are the only ones home right now because Luke went to the fair. The rest of the kids are at my Aunt Jerrie's house. I'll keep you posted on how she's feeling, see ya. Thanks.

Monday, August 16

hello all

well the question of the day is: how's tha baby? Or: how's your mom? So to save time I will tell you all that they are both healthy. Although my mom is feeling very tired.

Yesterday I went to Lafayette for evening service. My bothers and sisters are all staying with my Aunt Jerrie for two days. I would be staying there also except that I needed to stay here and watch Jerusha and stuff. I decided though that I am going to start coming up to Lafayette more beacuse Flo and I never see eachother.

Well today is my unofficail first day of school. Because I have two classes starting this week. Course Mr. Pulliam's class started lsat May. In order to prepare for my classes I have to do my school today; I guess you could say it is a half day though because not all my classes have started.

I went to Ken and Christy's wedding on Saturday. The wedding was very beautiful and I got to see people that I don't see very often despite the fact that we live in the same city. On the way home my dad and I were discussing how impossible it is for a RP kid to have a small wedding. Small being like 100 people. Which to most is rather big for a wedding. I told him that if I were to make a guest list for my wedding right now it would have 400 people on it. Now I am just in highschool and I am not getting married any time soon, but you get the point. This list would just be the people I would invite. I have no idea what the groom is like who knows how many more people will be on his list. Especaily if he is from a different RP church. Anyways Daddy said that in pursiute of a small wedding a person could just invite family and very close friends to the ceremony and have a huge respecption on a later date for everyone. The problem with that plan is that I have 60 or 70 members of my 'immediate' extended family that I have to invite and at least 40 friends that would have to bet there. If the guy is in a simular situation then that is 200 hundered people. What a small wedding! Anyways I don't really know why I am talking about this. So I shall shut up now and talk to you later.

Keziah Hope Long -this is Becca

I don't know why my brother had the nerve to comment on my blog. I mean I know he can't get on his right now for some dumb reason but that gave him no right to post on my blog.
Anyways on to the very exciting news. Yesterday at 4:45 my baby sister entered into this world. She weighed 8 lbs. 3 oz., and is 21 inches long. I went and saw her last night at like 1:00 am and she is one of the cutest babies a person could ever see. My mom;s labor was very fast and for the most part smooth. Praise God.

I actually was at a Josh Groban concert last night. Which was held at Verizon Wireless. It was one of the most amazing concerts ever. Josh was breathtaking.

Oh, note the 'h' at the end of Keziah's name. Luke did not spell the child's name correctly. This is excusable on his part because my mom hadn't decided if she was going to leave the 'h' in or not. After the baby was born the 'h' was defiantly left on.

A journal entry addressing my thoughts on babysitting

Journal Entry of Rebekah Long summer 2004
Mr. Pulliam's Writing Class

August 07, 2004 EARLY Saturday morning
The reason for my having said early with such exclamation is that it is now 12:12 am, and therefore almost as early as a person could possibly write.
I was wondering about the injustice done to the average employed babysitter, nanny, child care giver what have you. Considering that when one excepts a position of responsibly of a child one is stating, regardless of ones knowledge of this statement, that oneself is in the position of total authority, and protection of that little person. Therefore if a dreadful occurrence happened, to the child, and you had the option of allowing yourself to watch the child to die or to throw yourself in its place to almost certain separation of soul and body, it would be your duty, your job to lay your life down. These people who have such responsibility are some of the most under paid citizens of America.
Some time I would like to sit down with the parent of the littler person I am babysitting for and ask why some serious questions. Such as: how important is this child to you? What is she/he worth to you? Do you realize that when you leave this house, I am in totally responsibility of this child and I am required to put my life on the line if such circumstances present themselves? Do you also realize that this is your calling, to be a parent and in a since by leaving momentarily you are shifting this job onto me? If ANYTHING happens to your baby while you are gone I am the one to blame, good or bad. Then at the end of the conversation I would deep into their eyes and say: 'don't you think I deserve more then 5 or 6 dollars an hour?'
I do understand that people have their budget and therefore they can't possibly afford to pay a babysitter as much as they might like. Although when you get down to it there is really no price you can put on your baby's life therefore when you pay someone fore watching her, it is really hypocritical. In the best sense of course.
I also understand that there is such as thing as supply and demand. Quite honestly there are a lot people that are supposedly qualified to watch ones children then, therefore we don't charge as much because the more you charge the less business you get, when one is in the babysitting world. I just wanted to share my opinion on this subject and hopefully get people thinking more about this topic which is not often discussed.

Thursday, August 5

hey guys

For all you citizens reading my blog I give you greetings. How art thou? I am doing just wonderful, although the reality of school starting in less then two weeks is starting to set in, and the fact that I am not finished with last years school is blaring me in the face. Yet, my life goes on, and tomorrow I have planned to babysit for the Bakers, a lovely family of three children. I will be watching the two boys: Elliot and Chase. The later being two, and the prior being something like 11. Anyways, I am watching them from 7:45-5:00 or something like that, all depending on the circumstances at hand. This accounts for my need to retire and retreat unto deep slumber for at present it is 11:09, and the morrow will come all too quickly.

For those of you that know that my mother is expecting her 11th child at any time, I just want you to be of the knowledge that I will inform you all as soon as I have any news worth reporting. At present she not expecting the baby to come for at least another day, although the child's due date was the 2nd of August more then three days ago. Well, I need to say good night. I bid you all sweet dreams, and pray you shall have a good evening.

Monday, August 2

my point is backed by many verses:

"Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, is conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine."
I Timothy 4:12-13

God wants us to exhort one another to be an example to our fellow believers. Because we are young, and we do have a calling in Christ, one of which is to share the zeal Christ has given us for His word. Some are led to believe that all young people are wicked and they will eventually grow out of it. We as the covenant children of God must show them they are misled. For we have a gift and we must share it. So lets get together and encourage eachother.

P.S. I will share more insight later but for now I would be getting to bed because I have to be at work tomorrow at 6:30.

the first thing we are going to do:

As the opening event to this group of not-called-a-youth-group-but-what-else-would-you-call-it poeple, I suggest we have a game night to get to know eachother. Sure a lot of us have gone to the same church all our lives but we still don't know eachother that well, these events shall change that. I purpose that the game night shall be held at my house the Firday before school starts for most people, because this date varies, we shall have it August 20, from 6:30-10:00. I am not sure we can hold this event at my house due to the fact that my mom is going to have a baby soon and she may not be up to hosting a party depending on my things. But we have done this before, I mean have a party a couple weeks after a baby is born, and I will be the hostest not her.
Th point of the evening is that everyone brings there favorite game, (card games will be allowed) and then we all hang out and play them. We shall have some group games, like: I never, or capture the flag to start off the evening, and some people can continue in those games but others can go and play things such as Candy Land, or Trouble (one of my nwe found favorites), or catch phrase or something.
People will all have had dinner and but we shal lhave snacks. The guys need to all bring a 2-liter, and/or chips, and the s need to all bring a dessert or snack veggie/fruit thingy.

I will post more information on this at a later time. See ya.
