You Are Maliciously Internet Addicted When:

You kiss your friend's/boyfriend's home page.

Your bookmark takes 15 minutes to scroll from top to bottom.

Your eyeglasses have a web site burned in on them.

You find yourself brainstorming for new subjects to search.

You refuse to go to a vacation spot with no electricity and no phone lines.

You finally do take that vacation, but only after buying a cellular-modem and a laptop.

You spend half of the plane trip with your laptop on your lap... and your child in the overhead compartment.

All you daydreaming is preoccupied with getting a faster connection to the net: 28.8... ISDN... cable modem... T1... T3...

And even your night dreams are in HTML.

You find yourself typing "com" after every period when using a word processor.com.

You refer to going to the bathroom as downloading.

Your heart races faster and beats irregularly each time you see a new WWW site address in print or on TV, even though you've never had heart problems before.

You turn on your intercom when leaving the room so you can hear if new e-mail arrives.

When looking at a page full of someone else's links, you notice all of them are already highlighted in purple.

Your pet has its own home page.

You've already visited all the links at Yahoo and you're halfway through Lycos.

You can't call your grandmother..... she doesn't have a modem.

You realize there is not a sound in the house and you have no idea where your children are.

You check your mail. It says "no new messages." So you check it again.

You have commandeered your teenager's phone line for the net and even his friends know not to call on his line anymore.

Your phone bill comes to your doorstep in a box.

You code your homework in HTML and give your instructor the URL.

You don't know the gender of three of your closest friends, because they have neutral nicknames and you never bothered to ask.

Your husband tells you he's had the beard for 2 months.

You miss more than five meals a week downloading the latest games from Apogee.

You start looking for hot HTML addresses in public restrooms.

You move into a new house and decide to Netscape before you landscape.

You tell the cab driver you live at http://123.elm.street/house/bluetrim.html

You actually try that 123.elm.street address.

You tell the kids they can't use the computer because "Daddy's got work to do" and you don't even have a job.

Your friends no longer send you e-mail.... they just log on to your channel.

You buy a Captain Kirk chair with a built-in keyboard and mouse.

Your spouse makes a new rule: "The computer cannot come to bed."

You are so familiar with the WWW that you find the search engines useless.

You get a tattoo that says, "This body best viewed with Netscape 1.1 or higher."

You never have to deal with busy signals when calling your ISP... because you never log off.

You forget what year it is.

You start tilting your head sideways to smile.

You ask your doctor to implant a gig in your brain.

You leave the modem speaker on after connecting because you think it sounds like the ocean wind... the perfect soundtrack for "surfing the net".

You begin to wonder how on earth your service provider is allowed to call 200 hours per month "unlimited".

You turn on your computer and... turn off your significant other.

Your spouse says communication is important in a marriage... so you buy another computer and install a second phone line so the two of you can chat.

A controversial issue

Monday night my cousin James Faris, who also happens to be my pastor, brought to my attention a very controversial issue. He pointed out the difference between the sports swimming, running and the like, and basketball, football, tennis, etc. He proceeded by saying although swimming and running are 'real' sports, they really aren't as real as ball-sports. He supported this by saying that you race against the clock, and there is no real satisfaction in that. For when you are playing a ball sport you can say make a score, or a good move. This, according to James brings real satisfaction. Anyways what do you think?

Isaac

Today I am watching my little friend Isaac. His mommy is an ER doctor and so I often nanny him for her. He is one and a half and very cute. this morning we watched PBS and he built castles while I curled up on the couch, because I was so tires. I had to be here at 6:30, therefore I awoke form peaceful slumber at like 5:45 and well that is not very much sleep. Anyways I am going to be babysitting here till 5:45, except that I do have play practice, again, from 12:30 to 4:30, so Beth will have to fill in for me. Anyways I will also being doing this tomorrow.

Music Man Update

I just got back from practice. It went a little hectier (not a word I know but I decided to use it anyway) then expected. Mainly due to the fact that it was our first time to use the stage, and we didn't go straight though the play we only played the same seen over and over again for three hours, ok we did that for like three senses but still it was a lot of repetition. Anyways all you little play attendees should be really excited because we are totally going to pull this off... I hope.
There is so much dancing and physical contact during the play when I got home today I really wanted to go take a shower even though I took one before I went. I mean if we just did the whole thing once that's great but we would do the same real-dancing over and over again and people would keep touching you, which in normality is great I am a pretty touchy feely type, but this isn't natural touching this is all acted, so I don't know I get really sick of it.

some thoughts on being a wedding coordinator assistant

When I got back Saturday at 6:00, I was VERY tired. Some may wonder what I did all day. My main jobs consisted of relaying messages form the groomsmen to the bridesmaids, pinning on all of 30 butaniers (sp?) and corsages(sp?), carrying flower arrangements, lighting hundreds of candles, helping the bride in any way necessary, and many many more things. It was a lot of fun, but think I ran up to 3 miles, and many of those miles were up and down stairs, but like I said it was fun.
When I got home I laid in bed for 15 min. Just relaxing. Jerusha came upstairs and saw me for the first time all day, and asked me what I was doing. I told her Becca was sleeping and see put it upon herself to give me my pillow, stuffed pig I have slept with since I was 3 months, and her teddy bear. Then she picked up a book and asked if I wanted a stowy (story) because that's what she wants every time she goes to bed. So I got s stowy form Rushie, and felt better.

Deuteronomy 9:29 verse of the day

"Yet they are Your people and Your inheritance, whom You brought out by Your mighty power and by Your outstretched arm."

Saturday, May 22

today:

I am going over to the church in 5 minutes but I wanted to write something first so I don't get yelled at. I will be gone all day because I was asked to be the wedding coordinator's assistant. It is actually really fun.

OREGON TRAIL the game

Over the last several weeks I have been spending time on a computer game Beth got for her 13th birthday. It is quite an excellent game, I remember playing years ago. My problem is that if any one ever dies I quit the game. I just can't go on without all of my people. For those of you that are not familiar to the game I will explain:
the point is to take a wagon across the Oregon Trail, and you get to take as many as five people with you. You can name them, and give them the age you want. Then you have to buy all your supplies, and set off. Typically I buy 6 horse, 18 oxen, a milk cow, one big farm wagon and one small one, tons of food, lots of warm clothes, rifles, fishing rods, etc. And then I head out west. I have actually made only three times. Due to the fact that I can't continue if even one of my people die. Anyways it is a great game.

Romans 8:24-25 verse(s) of the day

"For we were saved in this hope, but even hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perserverance."

Presidential Award Update

Tomorrow is our last day to try out. Ok I have to do:
20 push-ups; with the same pulse through the whole thing (I can to 2)
48 sit-ups in one minute (i can do that)
8 in stretch past my feet sitting down (i can do that)
8.06 min. mile (I didn't train for that so last week I got 8.13 min *tear drop*
10.0 second shuttle run (I got 10.8)

so I have to work on a lot of stuff, and I only have tonight to practice now.

WHAT AM I GOING TO DO

Tuesday, May 18

Music Mann

I am in the 'Music Man' play. We are performing June 3, 4 and 5 at the University of Indianapolis in Ransburg Auditorium at 7 PM. No tickets are required, in fact it is free. For more information just ask me. It is going to be really cool. and well... I don't know I think you will all enjoy, because you must come, that is most obvious. If you take the time to read my blog you must also come see me star in this play. Ok so I am not the star but they need me. Anyways I need to go do some school so I will write more later.

Yes, I am back

I know that some of you are beginning to wonder why I made a commitment such as this, but the truth is these next couple weeks are some of the most busy weeks of my whole life. This is my excuse for why I haven't been available to write as often as would please some.
For now I would like to discuss the verse of the day. Because it is one of my very favorites. And as I was typing it out for you I realized what it meant, in a whole new way. (yet another example of the livingness of the WORD of GOD) I mean it just displays a vivid picture of our struggle even as Christians. And that we want to please God, we will it. But that often our will, is weaker then out physical desire or will. I mean that especially when we have just heard a inspiring sermon, and we really want to please God, live for nothing and no one but King. I mean we can get really pumped. So we get home and we purpose to spend the evening in devotion to God, and we end up watching a really dumb-no-worth-your-time-but-you-watched-it-anyway tv show. End up falling in your bed from exhaustion at midnight, and forget to do your quiet time. The truth was that you had willed to do your Quiet time, but you didn't do it. Your will changed. For when you were watching the tv show you sure willed it, if you didn't you wouldn't have watched it.
My point is that in a very real sense man has a very free will, God doesn't send his angels down to physically turn off the tv. But at the same time, man doesn't have free will, for Satan in a very real way poisoned your mind. Causing you to desire the meaningless thing above the time with God. So the truth is man has free will, but that will in tainted with sinful desire. Ask Paul.

Romans 7:15 verse of the day

"For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I I that I do."

quote of the day:

"WARNING: Water is energizing and refreshing. It may give you the urge to get off the couch.

We need to drink at least half our body weight in ounces of water, every day."

Contrary to what seems to be popular belief...

I do have a life. In fact, the fact that I don't write on my blog as much as some might like proves my liveliness. Because if I didn't have a life, I would not only be dead, but I would write on my blog constantly, like some of the very significant people I happen to know =)
This morning I was going to get up and run a mile. I set my alarm for 6:00, set out my running gear and fell soundly to sleep. [This happened at 12:07 am.] I didn't awake until 6:57 this morning. Don't ask me how, because I could not tell you. I NEVER sleep through my alarm. So I either didn't set it right, which is rather possible considering that it was midnight. Or someone else turned it off before it went off. Both are fairly possible. Regardless the point is that I didn't run. Because I had to be at work this morning at 7:30, which is very exciting because normally I have to be at work at 6:30, big difference. So now I am going to have to run after I get home form philosophy class.
The reason that running is a priority for me is that I am trying to receive the presidential award. In order to do so I must run a mile in 8:06 minutes. I ran a mile yesterday in 8:13 minutes. This is due to that fact that I haven't run a mile in like 3 weeks or something. But I really want that award, and so I am going to run a mile every day this week and try one more time this Thursday. I will defiantly inform you if I make it or not.

Matthew 10:16 verse of the day

"Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless and doves."
Matthew 10:16

Saint Augustine

Over the course of the last several weeks a few select friends and myself have read the book entitled 'City of God'. Written by Augustine himself. Today was our last day on this assignment, and this meant since we were done with the book we have to write a seven paragraph paper on the seven worldview questions according to Augustine. This is a sample of what I have been working on:

What was Augustine’s view of God?
Augustine did not have faith in the Roman god’s that surrounded him. “Belief in the One, Supreme God of Christianity is refreshing remedy to all the foolishness.” Said he concerning the gods of the Romans. He believed God created the universe, and everything it contains. “This supreme and true God-with His Word and Holy Spirit which are one with Him-this one omnipotent God is the creator and maker of every soul and of every body. All whole find their joy in truth and not in mere shadows drive their happiness from Him.” “No being that was made from nothing could be on a par with God, nor could it even be at all, were it not made by Him.

What was Augustine’s view of the universe, its origin and structure?
According to Augustine the universe was made by God, in the space of six days and it was all very good. “Of all visible things, the universe is the greatest; of all invisible realities, the greatest is God… it was He would made the world… the very order changes, and movements in the universe, the very beauty of form in all that is visible, proclaim, however silently, both that the world was created and also that its Creator could be none other than God whose greatness and beauty are both ineffable and invisible

Quote of the day

"What you mean by warring on the whole world. I do my fighting on a tiny ship, and they call me pirate; you do yours with a large fleet, and they call you Commander."

VERSE OF THE DAY:

"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for there is no work or devise of knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going."

Quote of the Day:

"Are you genltly sleeping, here inside my dreams?
And isn't faith believing all power can't be seen."

Isaiah 40:31 verse of the day

"But those who wait on the LORD
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint."

Josh Groban

For those of you who actually read my profile and are wondering who Josh Gorban is I am here to inform you.
Josh has the most gorgeous voice I have ever heard in my whole life. He is just 23 and has sold over 7 million albums world wide. He started singing when he was 17, and now... wow. For more information contact me at any time... any time. Right now my mission is to meet him, hopefully this summer, and become friends. Because as far as I can tell Josh doesn't sing for God, and this is a really big problem. Although he isn't an atheist, he needs if nothing else some unwavering promises. Which I as a daughter of the King am called to do. To wittiness to the world.

You will prolly hear more about this as times moves on, but for now I must sign off.

Concerning my Daily Green Tea Intake

Monday was my 15th birthday, and it was on this very day that my fair cousin Flo and I decided to make a commitment to drink 64 oz. Of GREEN TEA every day for the next YEAR. We equipped ourselves with matching 64oz. Blue insulated mugs. And 80 bags of green tea. This wouldn't be terrible if it weren't for that fact that we don't drink tea like normal people (not that normal people drink 64oz of tea a day but this is besides the point) we pour the whole bag of tea (not one bag mind you, 5 bags) into the water. Which results in a concoction(sp?) of bright green liquid containing pulp-leafy content. "Well Becca look at the bright side, we can relate to the beast of the field." *puzzled look* "...You know this seems to be a lot like chewing the cud." So my cousin and I don't drink 64oz of tea, we chew it.
You may be wondering why a person would deprive themselves this way, the truth is Green Tea is not the second most popular drink in the world for nothing. This stuff protects your skin for disease. It builds up you immune system, and cleans out all the junk that builds up in your digestive track. These are just a few of a whole lists, in Japanese it means 'miracle water.' (I think)

Quote of the Day

"For in the same fire, gold gleams and straw smokes; under the same flail the stalk is crushed and the grain threshed; the lees are not mistaken for oils because they have issued from the same press. So, too, the tide of crush, and wash away the wicked. So it is that, under the weight of the same affliction, the wicked deny and blaspheme God, and the good pray to Him and praise Him. The difference is not in what people suffer but in the way they suffer."

My Very Own Blog

Many people have greatly desired this moment. I wasn't sure that I would ever get a blog mainly due to the fact that I find blog's to be time consuming and somewhat irritating at times. After considering the pro's and con's to the situation I have decided to well... get a blog.
For those of you who are wondering where the name came form I shall inform you. I am a Christian this means that God is my Father and King. I am His child, His daughter. Psalm 45:13 is one of the many examples of this relationship:
"the daughter of the King so glorious waits within..."
